Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway sign installed Thursday morning
The new Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway sign was officially installed on Thursday morning.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) installed the purple sign along eastbound Highway 5, east of Audubon Road in Chanhassen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Prince’s sister Sharon Nelson and longtime Prince associate Mark Webster joined MnDOT in Chanhassen for the unveiling of the new highway sign.
“I was coming down the highway today and I was just a little emotional. It just came over me. I didn’t know what to think but I knew it was gonna be a beautiful day, the sun is out and it’s warm. I’m really lost for words but all I wanted to say is this is a Prince day. This is Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway Day,” said Webster.

“We’re gonna remember every time we pass this way, every great song he ever made,” said Prince’s sister Sharon, adding, “Purple Rain, number one, that is his signature tune.”
On Aug. 7, Prince fans are welcome to come to Lake Ann in Chanhassen to see the sign and celebrate Prince during a “highway celebration party,” said Webster, adding, “I don’t want to let any of his supporters down.”
