1 dead after shooting in Minneapolis’ McKinley neighborhood
Minneapolis police say a homicide investigation is underway after a shooting Monday night in north Minneapolis.
It happened in the area of 37th Avenue and Bryant Avenue North in the city’s McKinley neighborhood.
According to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara, officers responded to a report of shots fired at around 5:30 p.m.
There, they found an apparent teenager suffering from gunshot wounds in an alley.
O’Hara said the officers provided aid until the teen was taken to a hospital. However, he died a short time later.
The chief noted that officers are still working to identify the victim and aren’t completely sure yet if he’s a teenager or an adult.
“Certainly any death is tragic but anytime we lose a young person, particularly on a holiday weekend, that is particularly disturbing to all of us,” O’Hara said.
Police haven’t yet made any arrests and are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
