Police investigating fatal drive-by shooting in Cass Lake

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours Monday.

According to Sheriff Tom Burch, at around 2:45 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a drive-by shooting incident in Cass Lake. An address or an exact location was not provided by authorities.

Deputies arrived at the scene and learned that a 34-year-old man was struck by gunfire while in a yard at a residence’s house party. He was transported by ambulance to the Cass Lake Indian Services Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

An autopsy is scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
