Pedestrian hit by vehicle in Columbia Heights

A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night in the area of 44th and Central avenues northeast.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s office says an adult male was trying to cross Central Avenue outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by an SUV around 9:09 p.m. The man was trying to move westbound across the highway as the driver was traveling southbound. The victim was transported to a local hospital via ambulance.
The incident is under investigation by the Columbia Heights Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
