Officers involved in fatal Isanti County shooting identified
The officers involved in a fatal shooting that followed a pursuit in Isanti County on Sunday have been identified.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension identified the officers as:
- Grant Breems, a 27-year law enforcement veteran who’s been with the Blaine Police Department for the past four years.
- Tim Evens, a 23-year law enforcement veteran who’s been with the Blaine Police Department for the past 15 years.
- Jake Sorteberg, an eight-year veteran of the Anoka Police Department. Sorteberg didn’t fire his weapon but deployed K-9 Bravo, who was released from the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center on Monday.
Man killed in Isanti County pursuit identified
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office identified the suspect who died as 27-year-old Dominic Lucas Koch, of St. Croix Falls, Wis. The other suspect, Joseph William Heroff, of Hammond, Wis., was arrested and charged earlier this week.
According to the BCA, the incident was captured both on body cameras and dash cameras.
The agency’s investigation of the incident is ongoing.
Blaine police are leading the investigation of the events prior to the shooting.
