Minnesota State Fair makes a comeback with new foods, attractions

The Minnesota State Fair is officially underway and even with all the changes due to COVID-19, fairgoers can still expect fun as they make their way through the gates.

KSTP Reporter Ashley Zilka was at the fairgrounds, talking with new food vendors and asking people how they are feeling about the fair comeback.

The Minnesota State Fair has a total of nine new food vendors for the 2021 fair. The vendors are: Baba’s, Fluffy’s Hand Cut Donuts, Midtown Global Market’s Andy’s Garage, Summer Lakes Beverages, Scenic 61 by New Scenic Café, Solem Concessions Cheese Curds and Mini Donuts, Auntie M’s Gluten Free, Libby’s Ice Cream & Co., and Spinning Wylde.

The fair will also have over 20 new foods this year for fairgoers to try.

Meanwhile, there will be STEM activities taking place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Dan Patch Park.

There will be an American Red Cross blood Drive and a COVID-19 Community Vaccination Clinic at the North End Event Center, both from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

At 10:15 a.m., the state fair’s opening ceremony will take place at the Leinie Lodge Bandshell.

Also Thursday, the Classic Cart Regional Finals will take place starting at 3 p.m. in the Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum.

Miranda Lambert is set to perform with Lindsay Ell at 7:30 p.m. at the Grandstand.

The fair will be going on from Aug. 26 to Labor Day, Sept. 6. and tickets can be brought online or at the fair.
