Man who died after north Minneapolis shooting identified
A man who died following a shooting Friday in north Minneapolis has been identified.
The shooting marked the 31st homicide in Minneapolis this year and was the third fatal shooting in less than 24 hours on Friday.

Monday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man who died in the shooting — which happened near the intersection of 33rd Avenue of James Avenue North at about 4:40 p.m. Friday — as 23-year-old Mario Ronrico Smith, of Minneapolis.
The medical examiner reported Smith’s official cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said there was a possible exchange of gunfire, stating Smith reportedly fled a short distance and collapsed in the street. Vehicles then reportedly sped from the area.
