Man hit and killed overnight in St. Paul
The St. Paul Police Department says that around 2:20 a.m. Saturday morning a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the Marshall Avenue Bridge.
When officers arrived at the scene they found a man lying in the road with a severe head injury.
Paramedics transported the victim to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
The unidentified victim is believed to be a man in his mid-40s.
Authorities say that a 72-year-old man who was the driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Police say that no signs of impairment were found with the driver during a field sobriety test.
A witness to the crash says that the victim was seen walking “in the middle of the roadway” prior to the crash.
