Minneapolis police say a man has been arrested following a standoff Thursday night at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

According to police, officers were called to the hospital shortly after 9:15 p.m. for a report of a man who had barricaded himself in a hospital room, and was allegedly threatening both staff and security team members, and also threatened to harm officers once they arrived at the scene.

The man was eventually calmed down and talked out of the room.

Police say a large knife was taken from him.

He is receiving mental health care at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Officials haven’t said if he’ll be formally charged.
