Jury finds man guilty of murder in 2020 Minneapolis shooting

A man has been convicted of murder in a fatal Minneapolis shooting in 2020.

Court records show a jury has found 25-year-old Brent Buchan guilty of first-degree and second-degree murder in the death of Joshua Boyce.

According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to the 1700 block of Emerson Avenue North just before midnight on Oct. 25, 2020, after a ShotSpotter activation. There, police found Boyce bleeding in the doorway of his father’s home, and he claimed Buchan shot him.

Boyce was taken to a hospital but later died.

Buchan’s sentencing is set for March 21.
