Investigation underway into possible Dakota County explosion
UPDATE 10/6/22 – An investigation is underway after a possible explosion on a property in far southeastern Dakota County.
A fire truck and deputies with the sheriff’s office could be seen at the scene Wednesday afternoon.
A neighbor told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS a loud boom shook the area, and then she saw a woman driving quickly out of the driveway to get her husband to the hospital.
Deputies intercepted the couple in Hastings, and the man was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
It isn’t clear what caused the explosion.

INITIAL REPORT 10/5/22 – Emergency officials are responding to a possible house explosion in Dakota County.
According to the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, one adult patient was driven away from the scene, and emergency officials met that adult at the Hasting Civic Arena. The patient was then airlifted with serious injuries.
Chopper 5 is above the scene, where you can see a fire truck and other emergency officials responding at this time.
