Court to supervise dissolution of Feeding our Future

A court has decided to supervise the dissolution of Feeding our Future, a Minnesota nonprofit under investigation for allegedly stealing millions of dollars in federal funding.

Last month, the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office filed a petition asking for court supervision of the nonprofit’s finances and operations while it dissolves. A Dakota County court granted that petition on Monday and ordered Feeding our Future to prepare financial statements, inventory its assets and be transparent with the court.

After 90 days, the court will assess the nonprofit’s progress.

5 INVESTIGATES has previously reported on the massive federal fraud investigation into Feeding our Future. Last month, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison also confirmed that his office is investigating how the organization managed its charitable donations, although no formal determination of wrongdoing has been made at this point.

“I filed the petition as part of my job to supervise charities and their leaders to ensure they are complying with civil charities laws and upholding Minnesotans’ trust,” Ellison said in a statement. “I am gratified the Court granted the petition. Court oversight of Feeding Our Future’s dissolution will allow greater transparency into the organization’s finances and prevent any future fraud or misuse of assets while my investigation and the federal investigation continue.”
