Carver County fatal crash under investigation

Authorities are investigating a fatal crash in Carver County.

Thursday afternoon, the Minnesota State Patrol’s public information officer, Lt. Gordan Shank, tweeted that there has been a fatal crash on Highway 7, near County Road 33, in Hollywood Township.

At 1 p.m. a Kia Telluride was westbound on Highway 7 when it was hit by a Ford Taurus traveling northbound on County Road 33.

The driver of the Kia, a 53-year-old man from Silver Lake was pronounced dead.

A 55-year-old woman from Clearwater who was driving the Ford was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and is listed in “life-threatening” condition according to the State Patrol.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, and road conditions were wet at the time of the incident.

The identity of the deceased will be released tomorrow afternoon pending next-of-kin notification.
