Brooklyn Park Police: fully automatic gun likely used at scene where 17-year-old shot, many more rounds fired
UPDATE 11:30 a.m. 8/14/22: Brooklyn Park Police say the department received about 15 calls at the same time for a crime scene where at least one person was shot late Saturday night.
Police have reason to believe one of the guns involved was fully automatic, inspector Elliot Faust told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
The scene where at least 30 rounds were fired, police say, was at 8108 Zane Ave. N. near the Villa Del Coronado Apartments. The initial public safety alert said over 40 rounds were fired, but police do not have the exact number at this time.
A 17-year-old boy was taken to the hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
No further updates are expected at this time.

INITIAL REPORT 8:30 a.m. 8/14/22: Brooklyn Park Police say officers found a “large crime scene” where a boy was shot late Saturday night.
While responding to multiple shots fired reports around 11:35 p.m., police found a boy with a gunshot wound on the 8100 block of Yates Avenue North.
Responders took the boy to the hospital.
KSTP is working to gather more information about the boy and the severity of his injuries.
Police say they also found a “large crime scene” with evidence that over 40 rounds were fired in a parking lot and the courtyards of an apartment complex.
Police found one gun at the scene.
Gunfire damage includes seven vehicles and several occupied apartments, police say.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office processed the scene, and authorities are investigating.
No arrests have been made. No information on potential suspects has been provided.
