Two opposing rallies turned into a physical confrontation Saturday evening in Bloomington.
Pro-police "Back the Blue" activists waited at Bloomington Civic Plaza as hundreds of Black Lives Matter protesters marched toward them.
West 98th Street came to a halt as the two groups convened. Tensions were high, and yelling gave way to shoving and punching while uniformed officers stood by.
Protesters on both sides told KSTP before the clash that they wanted to peacefully show support for a cause they cared about.
In the end, though, they couldn’t see eye to eye.
