Apple Valley psychiatrist pleads guilty to criminal sexual conduct involving a patient
An Apple Valley psychiatrist who was charged with criminal sexual conduct involving a patient in August 2019 pleaded guilty on Thursday.
According to a release, 38-year-old Gavin Patrick Meany pleaded guilty to four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with engaging in sexual penetration with a patient.
During these acts, Meany was treating the victim as a patient in his role as a psychiatrist.

According to the criminal complaint, on Aug. 27, 2019, the Burnsville Police Department received a report from the victim who stated that she had been abused over the last five years by Meany while receiving therapy and psychiatric services from him starting in August 2015.
The victim described multiple acts of sexual touching and penetration that occurred in the professional offices of Meany in St. Louis Park and later in Meany's professional office in Burnsville between May 2018 and August 2019.
The complaint also stated that the victim described one act of sexual intercourse that occurred between her and Meany at his home in Apple Valley when his wife and son were out of town. When questioned by an investigator, Meany acknowledged he "crossed boundaries" with the victim and admitted to the sexual activity described by the victim.
His sentencing date is set for April 20.
