Construction season is officially underway in Anoka.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says reconstruction and improvements on Highway 10 begin Monday, March 28, and start with crews setting up traffic control.
For now, traffic will be moving in a single lane in each direction on Highway 10 between Thurston Avenue and Highway 47/Ferry Street. That closure will move further east to 7th Avenue starting in early April, according to MnDOT.
Single lane traffic will be experienced in the work zone until November.
Drivers are encouraged to use a different highway if possible, and use posted detour routes instead of cutting through neighborhoods.
According to the agency, their workers and the city of Anoka are working to repair roads and bridges, as well as build new interchanges between Thurston Avenue and 7th Avenue on the highway in Anoka.
The project is expected to be done by the spring of 2024.
