Actor Jake Gyllenhaal part of Wiggle Your Toes organization in helping those who have lost a limb

"Hi, it’s Jake Gyllenhaal. I hope you guys are having a great summer and that you’re staying safe."

That’s a message from actor Jake Gyllenhaal on the new Wiggle Your Toes video launching its new "Ten Dollar Toast" campaign.

Gyllenhaal is lending more than his star power to the organization.

Aaron Holm, founder and executive director of Wiggle Your Toes, said, "We got to know Jake through Jeff, and he’s kind of latched onto what we do. He loves our mission. He loves our initiatives."

Holm said Gyllenhaal initiates its "Stronger Program," which donates fitness prosthetics.

"Any everyday prosthesis that let’s say a kid would wear whether it’s a young kid that’s developed osteosarcoma, bone cancer, or was injured in an accident, a traumatic accident; or was congenital, born with limb deficiency — kids need to be kids. They’re everyday prostheses don’t allow them to run and jump and play and these products… have return energy, whereas their everyday prosthetic does not have that energy return," Holm said.

The virtual fundraiser will help give people prosthetics that can cost $5,000 to $10,000 otherwise.

"In 2017, Jake portrayed Jeff Bauman, who was injured in the Boston Marathon bombing, catastrophic injuries, both legs above the knee," Holm said.

Now, Gyllenhaal hopes others will join him in the new "Ten Dollar Toast" virtual campaign

In the video, Gyllenhaal said: "I propose a toast, of $10. Ten dollars, if you can do it, to the Stronger Program with Wiggle Your Toes."

A fitness prosthetic has already changed Maggie Schneider’s life. She eventually lost her leg after a car crash. Now, she can golf, boat, work and walk her dogs. She wants others to experience her freedom.

"For me, after getting the athletic foot, it changed my life in a way that I didn’t totally expect," she said.

Wiggle Your Toes hopes to grant people the gift of a new beginning.

"It just might change someone’s life," Gyllenhaal said.
