4-year-old dies after losing control of ATV; 6-year-old passenger OK
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office says a young child is dead after an ATV crash Tuesday evening in Buckman Township.
A 4-year-old boy from Pierz was driving the ATV on a gravel road with a 6-year-old boy in the passenger seat, the sheriff says.
The two were headed east on 83rd Street when the driver lost control and the Yamaha rolled, the sheriff says.
Authorities were alerted to the crash around 4:45 p.m. Many departments were called to assist.
The 6-year-old was reported to have jumped from the ATV before it rolled, resulting in minor cuts and bruises.
Responders attempted to save the younger child’s life after he was ejected, the sheriff says, but the boy died at the scene.
“This a tragic situation for family and all emergency personnel,” Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen said.
The incident is under investigation, and no other details have been provided at this time.
