4-year-old airlifted to hospital after skid loader accident in Crow Wing County

A 4-year-old was airlifted to a hospital over the weekend after an accident involving a skid-steer in Crow Wing County.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office said deputies and Nisswa officers responded to a medical call along the 17000 block of Highway 371 at about 2:47 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities learned that a 4-year-old boy had been sitting on the lap of a person operating a skid-steer tractor.

According to the sheriff's office, the boy was injured in the arm mechanism of the tractor after he leaned forward in the cab.

The child was airlifted to a hospital and underwent surgery to repair internal injuries.

It's unclear what condition the child was in as of Monday.
