2-year-old dead after crash in Maple Grove

A 2-year-old child is dead following a two-vehicle crash Thursday night in Maple Grove, police said.

Maple Grove police were dispatched at 5:23 p.m. to the 16000 block of County Road 81 after receiving reports of a crash. 

Officers said the toddler was pronounced dead at a Maple Grove hospital. 

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name and official cause of death.

A 31-year-old female driver was also taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The other driver was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police. 

The crash remains under investigation.
