1 in custody for fatal South St. Paul shooting

Police say one person is in custody for a fatal shooting in South St. Paul earlier this week.

According to South St. Paul police, a 17-year-old boy is being held at the Dakota County Juvenile Detention Center. The suspect’s name wasn’t immediately released.

Formal charges from the Dakota County Attorney’s Office are still pending.

As previously reported, officers were called to the 1900 block of Conver Avenue Sunday at about 10:42 p.m. for a report of shots being fired in the area.

When they arrived, a person — identified only as a 17-year-old boy — was found lying in the road and had what appeared to be gunshot injuries to the upper torso.

The victim’s name hasn’t been provided as of this publishing but is expected to be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office at a later time.
