South St. Paul Police investigating teen’s death as homicide

An investigation is underway after police say a teenager died late Sunday night in South St. Paul.

According to police, officers were called to the 1900 block of Conver Avenue at about 10:42 p.m. for a report of shots being fired in the area.

When they arrived, officers found a man laying in the road, and had what appeared to be gunshot injuries to his upper torso.

Despite aid being given, police say the 17-year-old died at the scene.

The teen’s name wasn’t immediately provided.

Officials say the public doesn’t appear to be in danger.

South St. Paul police, as well as the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, are investigating the shooting.

No other details were available.

Officials haven’t said if anyone has been arrested.
