1 dead, 2 injured after shooting in north Minneapolis
One person is dead and two others are injured after a shooting in north Minneapolis on Thursday night.
Garrett Parten, a Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson, said officers responded to the sound of gunshots near North Lyndale Avenue and North 42nd Avenue at 6:17 p.m.
There, officers found obvious damage from gunshots. Officers then learned two victims — a man and a woman — suffering non-life-threatening injuries took themselves to a hospital.
Inside a barbershop, officers found a man who’d already died from his injuries, Parten said. Investigators believe the suspect was outside the barbershop and shot into the business.
"We can be so much better as a community, as a group, and I honestly believe that better days are ahead as we continue getting these messages out," Parten said.
An investigation is underway.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The victim’s identity will be released at a later time by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
It’s the 64th homicide of the year in Minneapolis.
