1 dead, 1 in custody after fatal shooting inside Northeast Minneapolis bar

Minneapolis police have arrested a man following a fatal shooting around 11:30 pm. Saturday inside a Northeast Minneapolis bar.
Officers went to Spring Street Tavern, located at 355 Monroe St. NE, for a report of shots fired inside the business.
Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 30s with at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Police say responders attempted to save the man’s life, but he died at the scene.
Early information suggests a man in his 40s, whom police believe the victim knew, drew and shot a gun when an altercation escalated.
Police say the suspect suffered unspecified injuries during the altercation, so he was taken to the hospital to be treated before being booked into the Hennepin County Jail.
Police have not named either man, but say information about the victim will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
The shooting is the city’s 75th homicide of 2022.
