Special events and deals this Veterans Day
Veterans Day falls on Saturday this year, which means some businesses are observing it on Friday.
The federal holiday to honor all U.S. military veterans, formerly known as Armistice Day, will be celebrated with an official state program Saturday morning in Inver Grove Heights.
While many stores and restaurants will be open all weekend like usual, some government offices and businesses may be closed on Friday or Saturday. For example, all Minneapolis city government offices will be closed on Friday in observance of the holiday, and all U.S. Postal Service offices will be closed on Saturday, with no mail delivery. UPS and FedEx, however, will remain open both days.
Many banks are also expected to close on Saturday and some branches may also have different hours on Friday. That may differ by bank and branch, though, so it’s a good idea to check ahead of time with your local branch.
