Lake Crystal teen dead after early-morning crash

The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office says a 17-year-old girl died in an early-morning crash Thursday.

Authorities have identified the girl as Madison Kay Johnson, adding the teen was driving westbound on County Road 9 in a 2005 Buick LeSabre when the vehicle went off the road and struck a utility pole.

Johnson was the only person in the vehicle.

Authorities say that the crash remains under investigation.
