Wisconsin DMV: Fraudulent text messages being sent to residents
Wisconsin residents are being warned to not click on any links that are included in a text message that appears to be from the state’s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
According to the state’s Department of Transportation (WisDOT), officials have received multiple reports of fraudulent messages being sent to residents in the state.
The messages claim to be from the DMV and include a link that takes a person to a spoofed DMV website, where the residents are prompted to enter identifying information, credit card numbers or documents.
Customers are asked to start any kind of transaction with the DMV on the state’s website.
In addition, state officials say to not reply or call the number that sends the text.
