U of M police warn of recent robberies, thefts

The University of Minnesota Police Department is warning people of recent robberies and thefts in the Dinkytown and Stadium Village areas.

The U of M Public Safety Department said there have been four reports of aggravated robberies, two reports of people being robbed and four reports of thefts in the areas since May 6.

Minneapolis police are investigating the incidents.

All the incidents involved taking cellphones from U of M students, according to the university.

U of M Public Safety urged community members to avoid using a phone while walking and stay alert, as being distracted can make for easier targets. Traveling with others is also recommended.
