Two shot in Brooklyn Park Friday night

Two people were shot Friday night in Brooklyn Park with what authorities describe as “significant gunshot wounds.”

According to a news release, Brooklyn Park police responded to a call of a shooting shortly after 7 p.m. near 73rd Avenue North and Zane Avenue North.

Officers arrived and found two gunshot victims near the ground floor of an apartment building, according to police.

Both victims, who knew each other, were transported to the hospital, police say.

The news release notes officers spoke with witnesses and learned the two victims “engaged in a fight in which a firearm was produced, and both were struck by gunfire from that weapon.”

The shooting remains under investigation.
