St. Paul woman charged in 2021 fatal hit-and-run pleads guilty to homicide charge
A woman charged in the death of a man in North Minneapolis last year has pleaded guilty to a criminal vehicular homicide charge.
According to online court records, 21-year-old Aissata Dore entered her plea Monday morning in Hennepin County court.
As previously reported, 23-year-old Kevin Dodge-Fjelbroten was killed in May 2021 on the 2500 block of West Broadway Avenue. He was found lying in the street, and an abandoned vehicle with significant damage was found farther down the road.
Investigators say Dodge-Fjelbroten was walking across the westbound lanes of Broadway when he was struck by the Ford, which was being driven above the posted speed limit. The occupants of the vehicle—which was found to be registered to Dore—then got out and fled from the scene.
Dore’s phone was synched to her car at the time of the collision and automatically called 911 when the car detected the collision. The 911 operator opened the line to Dore’s phone and heard two females talking outside the vehicle before the line went silent. Neither female made any attempt to speak to the 911 operator or report the accident, according to the complaint.

Dore later admitted her car was involved in the collision, and she had been behind the wheel at the time of the incident. She also admitted to fleeing the scene.
After reviewing surveillance footage, officers determined she was traveling at a high rate of speed “far above” other cars traveling in the area at the time of the crash.
Dore’s sentencing is scheduled for the morning of Sept. 8. The charge carries a maximum of 10 years behind bars.
