St. Paul families and children receive vision care for ‘Minnesota Sight Day’

Children and families in St. Paul were treated to full-service vision care for the first “Minnesota Sight Day.”

St. Paul Public Schools along with other nonprofit organizations put on the event.

Vision screenings and exams were offered at the Rondo Education Center. Those participating also had a chance to pick out a pair of glasses.

Korinne Gerhart, program manager of Hellen Keller International, a nonprofit that provides resources for good health, nutrition and vision said to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, “If you can’t see, you can’t read. If you can’t read, you can’t learn. That’s something that’s stuck with me.”

Families also received information on accessing dental care and early childhood screenings.

The goal of Minnesota Sight Day is to set kids up for success in the coming school year.
