St. Cloud police: Teen believed to have brought gun on school bus arrested
A teenager was arrested Thursday after authorities say he apparently brought a gun onto a school bus.
St. Cloud police say a 17-year-old was spotted in possible possession of a gun on a school bus Wednesday afternoon. The following morning, it was reported to a school resource officer and an investigation was started.
Later that afternoon, officers went to the teen’s home and found a gun. He was then arrested on illegal gun possession charges.
Police noted the teen never made any threats and the investigation hasn’t uncovered any evidence suggesting the teen planned to use the gun.
The department also said the incident isn’t related at all to reports of threats at Tech High School on Thursday, and that is a separate investigation.
Officers are working with District 742 staff to investigate any concerns related to student safety, the department says.
Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to call police at 320-251-1200 or Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-255-1301.
