South St. Paul man arrested for stealing SUV, leading deputies on chase
A South St. Paul man was arrested Tuesday morning after authorities say he stole a vehicle and led them on a pursuit south of Mankato.
The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the 300 block of Fairgrounds Street in Garden City shortly before 5:30 a.m. on a report that a person had driven away in a man’s 2000 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer.
The sheriff’s office says deputies found the Blazer on Highway 169 about three miles south of Garden City, as the owner’s son was following it.
The suspect pulled over but then fled again into Faribault County, with deputies from that sheriff’s office joining the pursuit.
Eventually, deputies boxed in the Blazer and stopped it about a mile north of Winnebago.
The driver was then arrested and is being held for vehicle theft and fleeing police, the sheriff’s office says.
No injuries or damage were reported.
