Same person suspected in Apple Valley, Savage bank robberies, police say
Your help is needed in identifying a person who is believed to have robbed two separate businesses in the Savage area.
According to Savage police, the suspect wore an orange and yellow sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, ski goggles and a black mask during one incident, which happened at around noon on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Wings Financial.
Witnesses told police the male — who is described as being about 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds — approached an employee at the bank. His age wasn’t immediately provided.
That’s when the male began yelling and demanding money, all while pointing a handgun, according to officers. The employee then told the male there wasn’t any money in the vault. He then left through the front door without any money.
Apple Valley police say the same person is suspected of robbing the Royal Credit Union on the 14200 block of Cedar Avenue shortly after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. That suspect was wearing what is being described as an orange construction-style jacket, dark pants and a ski mask.
There, officers say a man with a handgun jumped over the counter and made an employee open a vault. He then ran from the scene before police arrived.
Although officers searched the area afterward, they weren’t able to find the male.
