Roseville homicide victim identified as 88-year-old grandmother of teen suspect

The woman killed in a homicide that triggered a widespread emergency alert on Tuesday was identified by the Roseville Police Department.
The victim has been named as Patricia Frances Maslow, an 88-year-old woman who died from multiple sharp and blunt force injuries. The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was arrested. Roseville police say the victim is the suspect’s grandmother.
Another four members of the suspect’s family were also injured.
The suspect’s 55-year-old mother is still in the hospital recovering from blunt force trauma. His 23-year-old sibling was treated and released for blunt force head trauma. The suspect’s two other adult siblings were treated for minor injuries and released at the scene of the incident, according to a news release from the Roseville Police Department.
Police say they are still investigating what motivated the attack.
The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office is still reviewing possible charges.

A shelter-in-place order was sent to phones across the Twin Cities, reaching devices in Ramsey, Hennepin and Dakota Counties around 10:50 a.m. Ramsey County officials later said that this was accidental, and that the alert was only supposed to reach a small part of Roseville.
A second alert gave clarifying information about 25 minutes later, and the all clear was announced when the suspect was apprehended at about 11:30 a.m.
