Red Wing man found in possession of grenade launcher pleads guilty to weapon charges

A Red Wing man who authorities say was in possession of large stash ammunition and weapons, including a grenade launcher, pleaded guilty Wednesday.

Court records show 39-year-old Chad Vernon Glasby pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a firearm after being convicted of a violent crime in Goodhue County Court. Back in May, Glasby pleaded not guilty to three other charges in part of a plea agreement.

A criminal complaint states investigators executed a search warrant at Glasby’s home and found at least half a dozen weapons, including a 37mm "Blooper" mortar gun, grenades and explosive devices, a silencer, a laser level and assorted ammunition and magazines for firearms.

Investigators also found two digital scales and a plastic bag that tested positive for methamphetamine.

The complaint states authorities found several other items, including a concrete saw and zip wall construction poles, that appeared to have been stolen.

Glasby was stopped by a deputy and arrested. While being arrested, Glasby allegedly admitted to consuming "a couple grams probably" of meth right before being stopped.

His sentencing is set for Nov. 4.
