Public asked to avoid scene following early-morning Maple Grove shooting

The Maple Grove Police Department is asking the public to temporarily avoid the scene at which an early-morning shooting took place Tuesday.

In an update Tuesday, the department stated officers were called to the scene along the 6700 block of Vicksburg Lane at about 4:56 a.m. on a report of a person with a gunshot wound.

One person, who suffered an injury not considered to be life-threatening, was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police said the scene remains active, though they said there appears to be no threat to the public. Police did, however, ask the public "to avoid the area and take alternate routes."

Additional information has not yet been released.
