Minnesota House Speaker Hortman says she’s COVID-positive
The speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives says she’s tested positive for COVID-19.
Melissa Hortman tweeted the news Wednesday morning, saying her “allergies seemed a little bit worse this morning than a normal spring day so I thought it would be prudent to check.”
Hortman also said she’s fully vaccinated and boosted and is feeling fine. She plans to participate in end-of-session legislative negotiations remotely until she’s no longer contagious.
A spokesperson for Senate Majority Leader Jeremy Miller said Miller isn’t experiencing any symptoms and doesn’t need to quarantine but will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
Miller also said, “I spoke with Speaker Hortman on the phone this morning, and I wish her a speedy recovery.”
The Legislature’s 2022 session must end by May 23.
