Man sentenced to probation for helping non-custodial mother forcefully take 5-year-old girl
A St. Paul man charged with helping a woman take her 5-year-old daughter from her custodial father in October has been sentenced.
Dennis Michael Brann, 58, was convicted of one count of deprive of custodial rights and sentenced to six days at the Hennepin County Workhouse, for which he was given six days credit for time served, and three years of supervised probation.
Minneapolis police responded to a 911 call on Oct. 23 in which a man reported he was at home with his daughter when her mother and another man forced their way in and took the girl. The girl's father had previously been awarded sole custody of the girl, according to a criminal complaint.
Police asked for the public's help finding the girl, and officers later found her with Brann and her mother, Serenity Joy Jones.
Jones's case is still progressing through the court's system.
