Man sentenced to prison in girlfriend’s death
A man has been sentenced to more than 20 years behind bars for the death of his girlfriend in 2020.
Court records show that 29-year-old Victor Manuel Morales was sentenced to over 25 years (306 months) at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility. He received credit for 517 days already served.
A criminal complaint states the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was called to Ashby just before 8:40 a.m. on Dec. 2, 2020, on a report of a suspicious person. The caller told the sheriff his friend, later identified as Morales, was acting strange and said he’d burned an apartment building.
When Morales opened his apartment door, the sheriff saw smoke pouring out, the complaint states. The body of Morales’s girlfriend was later found inside with apparent injuries from an assault.
