Man killed in homeless encampment shooting identified

A man killed by gunfire at a homeless encampment on Thursday was identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Adnan Mohamed Ali, 27, of Minneapolis, died of multiple gunshot wounds the morning of Thursday, Jan. 12.

Minneapolis police said they responded to reports of a shooting at a homeless encampment in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood at 15th Avenue South and 6th Street South just before 6:30 a.m.

Officers found Ali unconscious and suffering from gunshot wounds. Responders rendered aid until he was brought to the hospital, where he died.

No arrests have been made.
