Man injured after crashing vehicle, driving wrong way on I-394; impairment suspected
Authorities say a man recovering from injuries after crashing his vehicle while allegedly driving impaired Tuesday morning.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, troopers were called to the area of Interstate 394 at around 2:45 a.m. for a report of a wrong-way driver who was traveling west in the eastbound lanes near Highway 100.
Although the vehicle was found, troopers say the driver exited onto County Road 15 from I-394 while they tried to stop the vehicle, and they lost sight of the vehicle. However, they found it a short time later.
The State Patrol says the driver, identified as a 46-year-old man, eventually crashed the vehicle on Shoreline Drive. He was taken to North Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
According to authorities, the man went off the roadway during the crash, and there were no other people, or property, involved.
The agency says the man showed signs of suspected impairment and he is being processed for suspected DWI.
