Man injured, 18-year-old arrested in Monticello shooting
Authorities say a man is recovering from serious injuries after a shooting Monday night in Monticello.
According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 1700 block of River Street West just after 8:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
When deputies arrived, they found a 44-year-old Monticello man on the roadway near the entrance of a compost facility and found that he’d been shot multiple times, as well as assaulted.
The man, identified as Jade Nickels, was taken to North Memorial Hospital.
Eventually, deputies tracked down the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Dillon Tilbury of Moorhead.
Tilbury ran from the scene, according to witnesses. The sheriff’s office says he was later found at a home on the 1000 block of West River Street.
Tilbury is being held at the Wright County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault with a firearm but hasn’t been formally charged as of Tuesday morning.
As of this publishing, authorities say Nickels is in serious but stable condition.
The shooting is still being investigated.
