Often times when traumatic events unfold, we think about the suffering of the victims, but the people who respond to these incidents over and over are also dealing with a lot.
Now there’s a new service dog helping out M Health Fairview EMS facilities.
Clayton, a three-year-old yellow lab will help first responders in the metro after dealing with crisis calls.
“This is a step in the right direction,” District Chief Kevin Kane with M Health Fairview EMS said. “It’s allowed people that maybe weren’t comfortable in the past to come forward with these things.”
If all goes well, M Health Fairview EMS may add other dogs like Clayton to their staff.

“I think that’s really helpful during those critical times to help people let go some of that of stress and what not that they’re holding in after a difficult call,” Kane said.
