Man injured in overnight crash near North Loop

UPDATE 10 a.m. – Minneapolis police say one person is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries following an overnight crash near the city’s North Loop.

According to Minneapolis police, officers tried to stop a vehicle, but the driver left the area at a high rate of speed, and officers didn’t start a chase.

However, the driver then crashed the vehicle on North Washington Avenue near Second Avenue North just before 3:30 a.m.

The vehicle flipped onto its side, slid down the sidewalk and also damaged property.

Police say the driver, identified solely as a man, was extricated and then taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

No arrests have been made as of this time, and the damaged property was boarded up.

Minneapolis police say they are continuing to investigate the incident, and a crash report was done by the Minnesota State Patrol.

INITIAL REPORT: At least one person is recovering from injuries that happened during a serious crash overnight near the North Loop area of Minneapolis.

A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS photographer saw a car on its side on North Washington Avenue near Second Avenue North just after 3:30 a.m. Friday.

One person was seen being taken away in an ambulance after being pulled out of a car.

No word as to what caused the crash.
