Inmate who escaped jail near Duluth back in custody
An inmate who escaped from the Northeast Regional Corrections Center in Saginaw last week Wednesday is back in custody.
Hubbard Broadcasting affiliate WDIO-TV reports Kris Richard Severin, 42, was arrested Friday morning.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, investigators learned Severin had connections with a homeowner south of Eveleth.
When deputies went to that home, they saw Severin knocking on the front door. Deputies said they then saw Severin flee into a swampy area. The rain made tracking Severin difficult, according to deputies, however, law enforcement remained in the area and eventually found Severin inside a vehicle at the homeowner’s property.
Severin was returned to the corrections facility, where he was being held for a violation of an order for harassment, and the incident remains under investigation.
