Golden Valley selects new police chief
The City of Golden Valley has filled its police chief vacancy, according to a news release.
The city announced Monday that Virgil Green has accepted an offer to be the newest police chief.
Green has worked in law enforcement for over 38 years, most recently for the Tulsa, Oklahoma, school district’s police department. According to the news release, he has a bachelor’s degree in police administration from American Military University.
Last week, Golden Valley Mayor Shep Harris raised concerns during a City Council meeting, stating he was “very disappointed how this search has spun out of control.”
Golden Valley has been trying to fill the vacancy for months, searching for candidates across the country.
Green’s offer is contingent on a successful background check as well as other pre-employment screening requirements, which is expected to last six to eight weeks.
