Electrical system not yet ready after flooding at IDS Center
Crews continue to work to reopen more than two dozen floors of the IDS Center after flooding impacted the electrical system on Wednesday.
According to Accesso, the company that owns the IDS Center, a water expansion tank overflowed following the routine replacement of a water meter by the city. The flooding then impacted electrical equipment and several floors were evacuated Wednesday.

As of Friday, the electrical system was being tested but wasn’t yet ready, Accesso said.
The company is hopeful that it could be ready over the weekend so employees on floors 26 through 51 could return as soon as Monday.
“As of this afternoon, we conducted a test to determine if the electrical system could be re-energized. While the system is not yet ready, we feel optimistic it could be ready as soon as tomorrow. If that is the case, tenants who need to come in to re-energize their systems would be able to do so on Sunday, and floors 26 to 51 could reopen to employees as soon as Monday. If it is not ready tomorrow, we will conduct another test on Sunday.”
