Eagan elementary school cancels conferences over ’emergency situation’

An Eagan elementary school has canceled parent-teacher conferences Thursday night due to “an emergency situation involving police in the neighborhood.”

Pinewood Elementary posted the news on its website Thursday afternoon.

“This is an evolving situation and we do not have students in our building today. Given the information we have at this time, we believe this is the most prudent response,” the school’s statement said.

No details regarding the situation were provided but police later said they were investigating a threats complaint near Diffley and Dodd roads, not far from the elementary school. Police said there isn’t any threat to public safety and more information will be released later.

The school said it will reach out to families next week to reschedule canceled conferences.
